Sewing machine found by two on New River fishing trip
Carl Mesers and Patrick O Quin fished on the New River below Long Bridge and hauled to the surface a sewing machine. They could not explain how it ended up there or for how long it had been submerged. The Nashville South Georgian notes that in the sewing machine trade agents take old machines as part payment for new ones and may discard old stock in river or destroy it to clear out of service.
