Negro boy drowns in river swamp tragedy on DeVaughn place

A crowd of colored boys hunting lost cattle in rising river swamp on the DeVaughn place lost London Green. While wading he grabbed a tree limb as his mule swam ahead and then leaped into rushing water. Despite rescue efforts the boy disappeared and his body was found later wedged near a tree root six feet under water.

Dr TD Hyman, a Cordele dentist who moved from Fennille earlier this year, was found dead in bed Sunday morning by his wife after being in good health with no warning. He was a well regarded citizen and nephew of Rev Ji J Hyman of Arabi.
