Superior Court Adjourns After Short Term in Dooly

The September term of Dooly Superior Court adjourned at noon after eight and a half days. Most important criminal and civil dockets seen, with verdicts and sentences listed: Jim Davis larceny guilty 12 months. Will Hatcher murder guilty voluntary manslaughter 12 years. Luke Fenn assault with intent to murder 12 months or $160. Anderton Lewis violating local option guilty 12 months or $160 and cost. Sam Brown burglary guilty 12 months. Charlie Stewart contempt discharged upon cost. Essex Means assault with intent to murder not guilty.

Accident at Pateville leaves youth with hand amputated

In Anat Ga yesterday morning Elijah Bridges son of William Bridges was guiding a gin engine at J. S. Pate’s near Pateville when his left hand was caught in the saws. The injury required amputation just above the wrist and stopped the engine. He was brought to the city for surgery by Drs J S McKenasie and V O Harvard and is resting as well as could be expected.

Negro Lynching Suspect Body Found Near Idele Farm

The body of Ben Mobley, who assaulted the daughter of Mr. Granger near Wenons and was lynched by a mob, was recovered Wednesday from a lime sink on J. F. Pere’s farm three miles southeast of Idele.

Grand Jury Presentment Endorsements From 1908 session

The report to the next grand jury commends the newspapers Jenna Progress Vienna News Cordele Sentinel and Cordele Daily News with a five dollar rate each for publication. It thanks Judge Lit Levis and Solicitor Hoothey for courtesies in Hamilton open court and orders the presentments filed and published as recommended on October 10, 1908.
