Sumter offered 40000 cash 300 acres valued at 6000 with water supply and power for all time. Pulaski offered 25000 cash land and buildings valued 35000 free water lights and sewerage ten years. Governor Terrell and trustees chose Americus by eight to six citing its railway access healthfulness and advantages. City and county will bear part of the expense.
