Igo W. H. Lasseter will be the orator of the day at the Dooly County Camp No. 1 reunion to be held next day, July 4, with recitations, music, barbecue, free lemonade, and a base ball game Vienna versus Butler at the city grove by the public school building.
Mrs Weddington of Douglasville became violently ill on a train near Sandersville Georgia while en route to Dublin for a son Col Weddington. A letter in her lap named her destination revealing her identity. She died at a hospital in Dublin at noon today as relatives traveled from Atlanta Klin and Donglaaville to be by her side.
Local merchants including Kenna Drug Co Spears & Stovall Taggart Peavy Wilkes Hall Bank of Jenna Taylor Bros and others agree to close from 8 PM to 5 PM on 3rd and 4th and from 10 AM to 5 PM on July 4 to observe the holiday.

In Thomasville Georgia on June 27 Miss Araminta Culpepper wed Macon’s Mr June Bailey. The ceremony at S J Thomas Episcopal rectory was led by Rev W H Higgins. The couple had divorced prior and remarried surprised townspeople as they departed for Macon by afternoon train.
Very little business was trans acted by the house as a joint session with the senate canvassed state election returns. A resolution by Mr Hall of Bibb called for adjournment from Saturday July 1 to Wednesday July 5 due to the Fourth of July falling on Tuesday. The senate concurred.
A prominent Vidalia wedding unites Miss Mary Danwoody Roberts and Mr. George Sumner Rountree at the bride’s mother home. The ceremony featured Mendelssohn and a floral altar, with several out of town guests from Swainsboro Macon Atlanta Ocala and other cities attending. The newlyweds left for a North Carolina Washington New York trip after a wedding breakfast.
Embracing Governor-elect Hoke Smith ideas a bill drawn by Representative Hooper Alexander proposes shifting tax payments to September 1 each year and amending the state constitution. It would require tax returns by March 1 and payment by September 1, with arbitration finished by July and assembly power to adjust enforcement laws. If passed the amendment must be submitted to voters for ratification.
Mr. M. Carrell of the 2nd district shot and killed a large dog with hydrophobia near his home on a Wednesday morning. The dog had just left Yawns field where he was ploughing and attempted to bite Mere Yawn while her husband was away. The dog attacked near Carrell’s residence and was dispatched before causing harm.
A mob of 150 to 200 men stormed the Walton county jail in Monroe Georgia and hanged Richard Watts a alleged associate of Tom Allen near Social Circle. Eight or nine other prisoners were unharmed. The town faced hours of fear before the mob dispersed by 2 pm. Gov Brown denied any blame saying he could not deploy militia without county request.

Dawson Georgia reports Mayor Bell fined 26 automobilists for speeding. Each payed 16.75 dollars, totaling 40.50. The incident occurred Monday in Dawson.

Postmen from across the region gather to discuss duties and plans while noting mail handling closures on the Fourth of July. Officers include Paul L. Lynn Massachusetts June 27 A Lyon police court judge ruled that a man has a perfect right to get drunk on his birthday. James B Kelly, 57, was charged with intoxication after claiming he celebrated his birthday. Police records showed prior arrests aligned with his birthday anniversaries. The judge acknowledged his right to drink on his birthday and dismissed the case.
