Ample preparations are underway for the Dooly county veterans reunion in Vienna. Railroads offer excursion rates to draw crowds and the program committee nears completion. The mayor and council will turn over the keys of the city to the veterans as residents welcome guests for a holiday celebration.

JESS SIMS, a leading farmer from the Jerry community, died Thursday at 10 a.m. after a 80 day battle with typhoid fever. A 60 year old member of Smyrna Baptist Church for 20 years, he leaves a wife, six children, and numerous relatives. The body lay in the family burial grounds one mile southwest of town. Rev. J. M. Kelley officiated.

The Monroe Female College Orchestra of Forsyth will present a grand concert at the opera house in this city next Monday night July 8 under Director Dr. Chas J Wallace. Admission is 50 cents with children half price and reserved seats free of extra charge. The orchestra comprises 28 young ladies of the institution and promises a worthwhile entertainment.

Coronet J. W. Graham, a liveryman F. E. Williams of Cordelo, and a telephone crew post are connected to a drowning incident at the river where a horse frightened by the buggy led to a man found dead. The coroners inquest yielded a verdict that the deceased died at the hands of an unknown person or persons with no further light.

In Waynesboro Georgia on June 26 two men died and another was wounded in a pistol duel tied to a long standing feud. John Hill was wounded in the stomach and thigh while Dozier Hill is among the injured. Curtis died from a face and heart wound and Schrameck died from a head and heart shot. An inquest found Curtis killed in defense of his life. The Hills surrendered to a deputy sheriff and posted bonds.
