Duncan addresses Dooly voters denial of county split motive

G G Duncan writes to deny reports that his candidacy is tied to creating a new county with Unadilla as the county seat. He says the campaign is not about that issue and pledges to serve all of Dooly County, urging voters to support him for representative.

Trustees Postpone School Bill in Dooly County

At a Saturday meeting in the office of County School Superintendent E. G. Greene the Dooly County Trustees voted against introducing a bill to place the county on the County Unit System for local school taxation. The decision followed a grand jury recommendation favoring the system.

Cheap excursion to Macon and Atlanta announced

A June 11 excursion from Vienna to Macon and back costs 1.50 with return five days from sale. To Atlanta the round trip is 8.00. Special trains depart Vienna at 5 08 PM and Atlanta at 11 00 PM. Separate coaches for white and colored passengers available, with baggage checked if desired. Pullman accommodations offered on the special train. First big excursion of the season via G S and F Ry. The Dooly County Veterans reunion takes place in the city grove by the public school. Major James Calloway of Macon gives the principal address. The program includes invocations, welcomes from civic groups, a reading, songs, an address by Dr. L W Mobley, and dinner.

Cordele Takes First Game In Local Baseball Series

The Cordele team defeated the local club 8 to 6 yesterday afternoon. Vienna scored 8 runs, Cordele 6, with Elliott and Hudson on Cordele and Gardner and Smith on Vienna. Umpire Hamilton officiated. The local club aims to rebound for today and Wednesday’s games.

Unadilla Woman Attacked by Negro Robber Near Home

Mrs. J. J. Williams, about 65, was assaulted on a sidewalk near her North Railroad avenue home in Unadilla Georgia while returning from work. The robber demanded change, slapped her, tore loose her apron containing cash, and fled into darkness. officers arrived too late to catch him as store keys were found nearby.
