Bills for new counties hindered by constitutional committee
Atlanta July 21 The Committee on Constitutional Amendments reported unfavorably three bills to create new counties in South Georgia. Proposals called for carving Milledge Laurens Montgomery and others from existing territory to form new units but a razed county would prevent two new counties from existing. Opposition arose from several counties including Johnson Emanuel and Jeff Davis. The Blackshear bid faced broad opposition among six counties.
