Cordele news reports Patrolman Dorman fired at Cullen Carter after Carter threatened with a knife. Carter was wounded and died Saturday from the wound. Preliminary hearing before Judge Smith of Cordele dismissed the case, exonerating the officer as justifiable after witnesses testified he acted to defend himself.
On Monday night two thieves entered the minister's tent at the camp and took a gold watch and money from Rev J. L. Morrill. Several other ministers reportedly lost some money. No clues on the thief or exact time as of press time yesterday afternoon.
The To county campmeeting began Saturday with a prayer service and runs three services daily this week. Presiding Elder J B McGehee opened Sunday morning, Rev J L Morrill preached the 11 o'clock sermon, and Rev Howard McGehee of Cordele spoke at 3 PM. Large crowds, up to 18 at Sunday services, filled the tents and a public tent hosts visitors.
An old advertisement touts Bucklens Arnica Salve as a universal cure for eruptions, fever sores, boils, ulcers, carbuncles, felons, and cuts burns and piles. It claims sores vanish and guarantees cure with this patent remedy.

The A and B Railroad vs Turton dispute will be arbitrated on August 18 with judge J T Carl presiding. Turton values his thirty yard segment including about 100 grape vines at 1500 dollars, while the railroad contends the price is excessive and seeks an amicable settlement. Henry curse set for February on the same date.
Mrs. Francis Aenen, about 80, died Sunday evening after a long cancer battle. While seated in bed she spoke briefly then collapsed and expired. She was a Shiloh Methodist member. Survived by daughters Mrs. A Je shell and Mrs. Franklin Brown and son J A Aiken. Remains interred at Shiloh cemetery Monday at 4 in a large crowd. Rev. H P Myers led the burial.
Robbers blew the safe at the Rochelle saloon of Mr. R. H. Darsey Sunday night but found no cash as it had been removed Saturday. The method suggests expert safe blowers.
Ty A Allmons gathers in open spirit on Sunday and merchants enjoy improving trade. Surveyor R A Murray sells his home to J B Walton and A B Jordan sells property to Dr H A Youmans. Rev J D Norris conducts meetings at New Hope Church. Wade Bush wires cotton funds, local auctions, repairs at water works, Smyrna church gains six members, and A Robin & Co advertises stock clear out by September 1. Authorities visit jail with Sheriff Sheppard overseeing prisoners ahead of camp meeting.
Church notes express sympathy for Sister Jine Bryant born in Jo county Georgia October 10 1812 moved to Dooly county 1899 and died June 7 1902. She was blind for over forty years and invalid eighteen years after a fall. Survived by two sons and six daughters husband predeceased her. She joined the Baptist church at 17 and remained devoted despite illness. The church votes to notify the family publish in church minutes and local papers.
