Douglas Boosters Here Yesterday
The Coffee County Boosters were met at the county line by a delegation from the city and escorted to town for lunch. About twelve cars of Douglas citizens and Coffee county guards arrived with pennants and booster signs. Tables were set in the park for a barbecue dinner later moved to the City Market due to wind and dust. Menu included barbecue branewick stew bread pickles tomatoes and tea. Watts Powell acted as toast master and several speeches were given by Douglas and Vienna citizens. The Civic Club ladies assisted with reception and entertainment. A hearty thanks was extended to the host city. At 2 15 the boosters continued toward Macon Atlanta Athens returning via Hawkinsville and home later in the week.

Americas Ga July 18 A Llan kinaville led by T B Reagan proposed to the Americus Chamber of Commerce that the Georgia Lumber Company extend the railroad from Games to Americas toward Hawkinsville in the east. The 53 mile route would connect with the Ocmulgee river and water routes to Brunswick and the Atlantic. Seventeen miles are built, with 25 miles to Hawkinsville once completed. The project promises substantial freight savings for Americus, estimated at over 200000 dollars annually.

A 32 year old native of Milledgeville Georgia he has written on agriculture and economics since age sixteen and contributed to major papers including The Atlanta Journal. He bought the Milledgeville News in 1908 and edits it with his brother H E McAuliffe while serving as deputy collector for the fourth division of internal revenue and holding multiple civic posts.
