Mrs. J. B. Webb died at home in Vidalia Monday night. The funeral and burial followed at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, with husband J. B. Webb and relatives present. Webb family long connected to Mt. Vernon, now grieving deep loss.
Misa Frances Susan Lasseter wed James M. Wooten of Unadilla in a Wednesday ceremony at the Lasseter home on Sixth Street. Rev J E Seals officiated. Bride and groom plan a wedding tour to New York and California before settling in Unadilla. Out of town guests included Mrs Shipp Americus and others from Cordele Abbeville Macon and Pinhurst.
Miss Fannie Sue Lasseter guest of honor at a Monday afternoon linen shower hosted by Mrs. Nathan Powell. The house featured pot plants and cut flowers with violets and narcissus. Guests wore champagne gowns and reception attire. Miss Kate Morgan won a prize of Norris’ candy as the successful contestant.
Eighteen Civic Improvement Club members met with Mrs T H Gregory on Wednesday to discuss improvements including park coping. Reports were heard and a new committee was formed to arrange an order for park coping. Members agreed to meet cemetery lot owners at the city cemetery next Thursday at 2 PM for a cleanup day.
Citizens are urged to attend the Agricultural Train event next Thursday morning at the G S and EF depot in this city. Local organizers promote exposure to farming advances and equipment.

Cordele Georgia February 22 Chief of Police Summer narrates a bizarre near miss from Worth county. A farmer named Striebinger aimed to wake a sleeping pig and detonated dynamite hidden under the pen. The blast knocked the chief and farmer down and blew out part of the building. the pig died. The pigs had eaten the missing dynamite. Striebinger vows not to kick any more pigs.
The Albany Herald reports a broad fall in living costs since the Democratic landslide, with 80 percent overall decline from January 1910 figures. Meat and staples drop sharply. ribs 12 cents, bacon 22 cents, eggs wholesale 18 cents, butter down 25 percent, sugar down 80 percent, coffee rising 25 percent. Clothing and flour also easing.

Lawton Bragg ten year old son of Mr and Mrs J H Bragg was badly burned when he handled a dynamite cap. His left hand was blown to fragments losing all fingers except two and his right hand was seriously injured. Doctors expect recovery despite the grave injuries.
