City Court Records Record Year of Profit for Dooly County

The City Court of Vienne reports its six months to date show the best period in court history with 8047 dollars turned over to the county treasurer. Previously six months yielded about 1800 dollars, totaling around 5000 for the year after officer costs. Revenue largely rose from selling convicts under a new contract price of 20 dollars and 85 cents bid by Mesars Shingler and Shingler at Donaldsonville. The court remains self sustaining and saves jail and court fees by keeping prisoners out of the superior court system, a point the people of Dooly County are urged to take pride in with the court’s officers.
