Young boy killed by falling tree near Vienna
Late Monday afternoon a fierce windstorm struck Sandy Mount area. Fourteen year old James Bryant, son of Mr. Lige Bryant, was killed while walking home from school when a tree broke and fell. His father rushed to meet him, but the boy ran under the collapsing tree and died.

Monday morning a two year old child of John H Powell was run over by a loaded one horse wagon near their home a few miles below town. The child appeared dead but recovered quickly and was found unharmed after examination by Dr C T Stovall.

Windy Vienna Strikes Damages Homes and Clock Face
A strong wind storm hit Vienna on Monday causing extensive damage. A new Dr. C. T. Stovall house east of the city was blown down just after completion. Col. M. P. Hall’s house lost a chum oeys, fences were toppled, trees uprooted, and the Vienna courthouse clock face was knocked from its housing, leaving the town without the time of day.
