Farmers in Dooly county gathered at the court house to form a County Association in response to Hon Harvie Jordan. J P Heard was elected chairman with Joel Mercer as vice chairman Rev J M Kelley secretary and L Nobles treasurer A committee led by A V Whipple drafted an order of business. Turner of Cordele promoted cotton storage and bonded warehouse financing. About 150 farmers attended and 90 percent favored a 26 percent reduction in cotton and fertilizer use. A district committee list and duties were announced and the group adjourned to meet next Friday February 24. Sawmill Accident Kills Worker in Dasher Station

Train crushes prominent farmer at Valdosta Ga
Samuel Barker, a well known farmer in Valdosta County, was killed when a Georgia and Florida Southern freight train backed into a platform he stood beside at the Georgia Fertilizer and Oil Co plant. He was rushed to the sanitarium but died hours later. The engineer did not see him in time and Barker likely failed to notice the cars backing toward him.
