Vienna City Council Minutes February 7 1910

Regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council of Vienna on February 7 1910 with Mayor J B Walton and aldermen Ed Howell D A Taylor W F Newby present. Motions include collecting 1909 meat and fish license from J A Smith imposing 25 dollar special license tax on meat cutters, and requiring J G Forehand and E C Taylor to pay their 1909 1910 jewelry licenses. Also to purchase water meters and appoint a committee J B Walton D A Taylor and Ed Howell. Meeting adjourned.

Tragic Collision Kills Negro Driver Near City Depot

A south bound freight train of G S F struck a two mule wagon at the crossing near the depot yesterday morning, instantly killing the 25 year old driver Jerry Tamplin. The mules escaped unhurt. wagon splintered, train slowed to about 20 mph. The victim lived on Taylor Bros. farm and his wife was away in South Georgia.
