Vienna Freight Rates Lowered to Cordele Basis
The Georgia state railroad commission ruled Vienna must receive freight rates nearly the same as Cordele. Rates from south of Seaboard points to Vienna are limited to 5 percent above Cordele, reflecting Vienna’s greater distance. Northward routes to Vienna may not exceed Cordele rates. This removes discrimination and may lower Vienna costs while preventing Cordele increases.
Rail Commission limits Georgia rate differences to Vienna
The Georgia Railroad Commission orders that after March 15 1912 rates between southern Georgia points and Vienna may not exceed Cordele rates by more than five percent. North of the Seaboard line rates to Vienna must not exceed Cordele rates. The order preserves lower existing rates. Also note sale: an eight year old mule and ten barrels Georgia cane syrup offered by J B Byner of Vienna.
