Vienna aims to fund a brick hotel through public subscriptions. About $2,000 more is needed to complete the stock. the plan calls for a 25 brick hotel. The town, now over 2,000 residents with more travelers, urges everyone to subscribe and support this much needed enterprise for local growth and public convenience.
The Vienna Baptist church hosted two sermons by V. Krekor Hagop Basmajian from Constanti ple Armenia. An Armenian native, educated and once seeking to return home as a missionary, he now travels to teach Christ ianity and Armenian customs. His bilingual singing delighted attendees.
Medical advertisement notes Lexative Bromo Quine Tablets as a cure in one day. It mentions physicians relation and E W Grove’s signature on each. Dated March 28 1903.
A letter from H C McFadden, General Passenger Agent of the Atlantic and Birmingham Railway, invites Dooly County planters to enter a watermelon contest. Prizes total 980 dollars for the three largest melons, with conditions: growers must plant five or more acres, prizes go to individual growers, weights determine size, melons must be forwarded labeled via the railway’s agents.
Arthur Davies, an employee of the Vienna Telephone Company, fell from a telephone pole at Unadilla yesterday morning and broke his leg. He was brought to the city yesterday afternoon and is receiving medical care. He is expected to be confined to his room for several days while he recovers.

A Macon dispatch reports Herbert L. Grice found cotton bolls on W H J Carmack’s Vienna area plantation showing boll weevil damage. Grice and local merchants fear a regional infestation could trigger a commercial upheaval, with losses estimated over seven thousand dollars. The insect resembles a corn weevil and injects a sting to destroy developing bolls.
