Fertilizers Tested Show Higher Than Guarantee

A Georgia man submitted samples of fertilizers from Cotton Oil Company to the state chemist in Atlanta. The analysis found all ingredients exceeded the stated guarantees, including nitrogen 14 percent guarantee vs 15.97 actual, kainit 12 vs 12.51, meal 2 vs 8.01, soda 48 vs 58, and potash 48 vs 60. The News notes these products are made locally and exceed promised quality.

Fire destroys four brick stores in Unadilla

Four brick stores owned by Mr T H Gregory at Unadilla were destroyed by fire about 4 o clock this morning. The shops housed by J W Brown C W Smith Lewis Graham and H Lee. A small portion of stock saved. Loss amount and insurance not learned. Buildings were practically new.

Operator Shocked In Tifton Exchange

George L. Norris night operator in the Tifton Georgia telephone exchange had a narrow escape when a light fixture he touched while opening the office caused a severe electric shock. A main wire crossing the office light wire delivered about 550 volts. Norris fell with the fixture and was unconscious for a time. The accident occurred in a wet storage area after rain, near 9 p.m.
