Home Talent Show a Big Success in City

The Black and White minstrel program Friday drew a large audience and earned a nice net. Directors and participants are praised for the act, with costumes and jokes in minstrel style. Proceeds will fund War Savings Stamps and War Relief Work. The city hall held the two alderman primary. only two candidates, W. S. Reeds and J. R. Causey, appeared, votes light.

Service Flag Presented by Masons at Red Cross Meeting

At the local Masonic regular meeting last Wednesday a delegation from the Eastern Star presented a service flag crafted by women of the order. The flag features nineteen gold stars, one silver, and seventeen blue in a square and triangle, symbols of the order. Mrs. R. S. Middleton presented the flag followed by an apt acceptance speech. Rev. Wallace Wear spoke at the Red Cross Rally, delivering a practical, knowledge-based address on keeping the Red Cross spirit alive in peace times and projecting its future role as a universal humanitarian agency. The event highlighted the enduring value of Red Cross service.

Mrs Holt Meadoo dies after influenza pneumonia

Obituary notes Mrs B R Holt of Tippettville aged 62 died Sunday afternoon from pneumonia following influenza. She was a longtime member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral at Friendship Church with Rev J L Helms, burial in the local cemetery. She leaves husband and two children plus sisters and brothers. In wartime notices, locals urged to redeem War Savings pledges before year end. treasury secretary emphasizes urgent government needs. Public musical programs planned at the school auditorium Thursday at 7:30 and Friday at 2:30 by Misses Weaver Morgan and Chapman. attendance requested.

Dooly Jewish Relief Drive urged for Vienna and Daly County
