New Enterprise Under Consideration in Vidalia
Tuesday afternoon at the Council Chamber several business men discussed a proposal by Mr Huckaby of Vidalia to build an ice and meat curing plant. Huckaby, formerly with the Southern Express Company, operates a similar plant at Vidalia where the venture has proven profitable. A committee was formed to investigate financial backing possibilities and the full plan and cost estimate were reviewed.

State Society to Meet in Macon Georgia Horticultural
The Georgia State Horticultural Society will hold its sixth summer session August 8 and 9, 1918, in the Macon Chamber of Commerce assembly room. Mayor G. Glenn Toole will give the welcome, with papers by experts on topics from citrus to storage. Camp Meeting Ends After Week of Rain Lively Services
Despite rain the Camp Ground services drew large crowds since Sunday with many visitors bringing dinners to the grounds under the trees. Sermons were earnest and forceful, music excellent, and Rev Smith, the district presiding elder, directed the convention with tact. The last service concluded the meeting tonight.

Local man volunteers for limited service and heads to Syracuse
The Local Board called one man from the limited service class to train for service with fire and guard companies at embarkation points in Syracuse. Vernon Kirkland, among the top qualifiers, volunteered but the board had already chosen him. He departed yesterday via the G and P Railway for the training camp in Syracuse.

Physical Examinations for Class One Men Concluded
Local examining board completed several days of physical exams for men in Class One and 1918 registrants deemed fit for service. About 250 examined. most reclassified to Class One, others remained in process. A full list of those who passed will be published later.
August draft may get all class 1 men
The present indications show frequent heavy calls for men qualified for military service this month. Washington has provided guidance, with two definite orders received: eighty negroes to Camp Wheeler on August 5 and thirteen white lance sergeants to Camp Greenleaf on August 8. After these calls, about 125 negroes and forty whites remain in Class 1, and Dooly is expected to supply the full quota.

President and Mrs Wilson Celebrate First Wedding Anniversary
