A grand church wedding at the Episcopal church in the city joined Miss Sallie Collins Leonard and Dr Everard Dugne Richardson of Atlanta. The ceremony featured Bishop C K Nelson and music by Guttenberger's band, with elaborate floral decor and a rose bell lighting effect. The bride wore duchess satin with lace trim and carried roses and lilies of the valley. A reception followed at the bride’s mother Mrs Eva Lewis Leonard’s home with gifts including gold pins and a diamond monogram fob.

Could Free Negroes Be Slave Owners in Georgia
Atlanta April 24 Judge C J Wellborn state librarian received a curious inquiry from the North asking if during the slavery era free Negroes were ever allowed to own slaves in Georgia. He found several who insist the case occurred but none provided concrete instances. Captain R E Park, state treasurer, says he is convinced such privilege existed. The judge’s legal review suggests the contrary.

Brakeman Munro Wins $45 000 Settlement for Injuries
Har ry Munro, a former brakeman for the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad, agreed to accept 45 000 dollars in full settlement of injuries from January 11 when his foot caught on a hole on a freight car roof. He lost his right arm and leg and his left hand fingers were amputated after being thrown between cars. The suit was for 100 000 dollars and settled after consultation with railroad counsel S W Taft failed trial.

From the mother of the bride and Mrs. Richardson a silver service is given by Dr. and Mrs. Richardson. The bride’s cake cut before gown change, ring won by Josephine Jones, thimble by Miss Bertha Leonard, dime by Mr. McDonald. They depart after reception for Savannah to board a steamer for New York and other cities. The going away gown is black and white plaid with a tetoni jacket. Negro Identified as Will Ford Arrested After Turner County Killing
In Tifton Georgia on April 28 a negro identified as Will Ford linked to the March 6 murder of George W. May near Ashburn was captured after an eight mile chase. Ford alias John Woods denied arrest then surrendered in bushes. Reward totals 550 dollars with family payout included. Doerun reports superintendent T M Thomas shot dead in hotel dining room over money owed Fussell claims self defense.

Mrs Chas F Crisp widow of the late Georgia congressman died in Americus after a brief illness. Born Clara Burdon of Ellaville she leaves two daughters Mrs Carr S Glover and Mrs G F Davenport two sons Judge Charles R Crisp and Frederick Crisp and a sister Mrs John N Scarbrough. Funeral planned Wednesday afternoon.

Cordele Georgia April 25 the cornerstone of Crisp county s new courthouse was laid this afternoon with Masonic donors present. Deputy Grand Master Jeffries of Atlanta led the ceremony in Grand Master Meyerhard s absence. Addresses by Judge A V Whipple and Rev Frank W Cramer followed with a strong musical program and active participation by the Daughters of the Confederacy. Hon W C Hamilton served as master of ceremonies.

Boy Kills His Baby Sister in Buckhead
Buckhead Georgia, April 24. Little Myra Cochran two years old was accidentally shot and killed by her twelve year old brother Arthur yesterday morning while unbreeching his shotgun. The load struck her in the face as she lay on the bed. The parents are overwhelmed with grief.

Hudson to Jamestown Exposition in Norfolk
Atlanta April 24 Commissioner of Agriculture T G Hudson will travel to Norfolk for the Jamestown exposition opening and a Georgia Jamestown commission meeting on Friday April 26 on the exposition grounds. Attending will be President W N Mitchell Geologist W S Yates S R Fields of Cordele and Hudson. Plans aim to advance the Georgia exhibits with completion of the Georgia building in about ten days.

Georgia town suffers large factory fire in April
Helena Georgia April 24 the Smith Manufacturing Company large variety works planing mill and dry kiln were totally destroyed by fire starting in the planning room and spreading to all buildings within ten minutes the loss estimated at 20000. Firemen saved the west side of the city including the Seaboard Airline freight depot and yards with little insurance carried.
