Vidalia Kiwanis Eyes Georgia Swine Growers Meet Next Year
Vidalia Kiwanis Club backs a bid to host the Georgia Swine Growers Convention in Vidalia. F L Huie WW T McArthur Jr and J H Jackson report the county agent and club members attended the Carrollton session and extended the invitation for Vidalia in January. The convention may come to Vidalia next fall with Middle Georgia slated for March and Vidalia favored for a future meeting. The club also plans a hog sale invite and to entertain the Vidalia Public School faculty on Sept 18 with a health program by local physicians.

D F Kirkland director of industrial development of the Georgia and Florida Railway and former general manager killed himself near Augusta Georgia after a period of poor health. He left a goodbye note for his family and was a longtime prominent citizen involved with the railway.

Fire destroys home occupied by G W Hadden in Oconee Heights
Fire discovered about two o'clock Monday morning completely destroyed the residence in Oconee Heights owned by I B Barwick and occupied by G W Hadden. Mr Hadden and his family were awakened before the roof fell in and saved little. He had a small amount of insurance. Monday morning a dwelling on Jack McNeill's farm burned, believed incendiary as tenants were away.
