Committee Looks Into Vidalia School Consolidation
The Kiwanis Club appointed a special committee to study merging Vidalia public schools with the county system. They note Vidalia’s city property is valued around two million dollars with seven mills taxed for schools, while the consolidated district would value about 1.3 million and require more teachers and buildings, possibly increasing costs. First watermelon shipments from this district began Wednesday with one car loading at Lyons and one at Ohoopee. Daniel Davis Must Serve Life Sentence
The Supreme Court affirmed the murder conviction and life term for Daniel Davis of Treutlen County in the death of tenant farmer William H. Hall in 1920. Hall died after Davis allegedly lured him, drugged him with chloral, then drove off a bridge into a creek, overturning the car and drowning Hall during an attempt to settle a debt. Co defendants E. E. Coleman Roy Durden and Wiley Smith faced related charges.

Ruth Horne Convicted In Vidalia Mayor Court
Ruth Horne was convicted of running a lewd house in Vidalia before Mayor Jackson. She was fined 150 dollars or 60 days in jail and bound over to the superior court. Attorney D. C. The cooperative poultry sale for farmers of Vidalia Georgia and nearby areas is scheduled for Wednesday July 5. Birds will be graded into friers under 2 1 4 pounds and over, and other classes, with a regular poultry car on track to handle 4 500 to 5 000 birds.
Farmer Makes Good Profit Feeding Hogs in South Georgia
Colquitt county farmer J. W. Coleman netted 204.75 by feeding forty pigs for thirty days. Pigs weighed 4000 pounds start and 6505 pounds when sold for 584.75, with costs 380, plus nearly 100 for feed. If hogs test well, Coleman earns a premium of about 65 dollars. Local livestock experts note strong hog receipts and optimism for continued high activity in Georgia markets.
