Page's Drug Store launches a vote based contest with a doll and doll bed for the top girl and a locomobile for the top boy. Shoppers earn 100 votes per dollar spent and coupons with every five purchases exchangeable for 100 votes each. Entries free for those 15 and under. results posted Mondays and Thursdays until December 20, then daily to Christmas Eve. Premiums awarded at 10 a.m. Christmas Day.
Mrs Mary Harris Armor nation al W C T U lecturer and Georgia field secretary will address Vidalia and area next Monday at 7 45 PM at city hall. Armor is hailed as one of America's brilliant platform speakers and a future historic figure.
About 100 bales of cotton loaded on cars in the Ga. & Fla. Railway yards were burned early Thursday morning. The railroad workers and the city fire department acted quickly to control the blaze with six other adjacent properties affected by the fire.
Remember the sale that is now going on at the millinery store of Mrs. J. H. B. Page. She is selling goods at greatly reduced prices one half off former prices. Her bargains attract local shoppers and millinery goods are being offered at half previous costs. The sale will continue for several days, urging shoppers not to wait.
The statewide election for Justice of the Peace and Constables is set for Saturday. In Vidalia the polling site is the courthouse on Morris Street. Candidates include John L. McIntyre for Justice of Peace, T. J. Ford and Sam Story for Constable. McIntyre faces no opposition and is expected to be reelected.
Mrs. J. C. Meadows organizes a missionary society at the Normantown Baptist Church. Officers elected are Mrs. J. C. Meadows president, Mrs. B. D. Patrick vice president, and Mrs. D. W. New secretary and treasurer. A goodly number of local ladies have joined.
Mr CE Wilder and Miss Laura Mosely married in Lyons on Wednesday November 25. The couple, daughter and son in law of Mr and Mrs John W Mosely, were celebrated by friends in the section and plan to reside in South Carolina.
Vidalia business leaders meet at the New Vidalia Hotel to discuss expanding tourist travel for the remainder of winter and the coming spring. Host F C Omberg invites one representative from each business and local officials with Mr RossIGNOL of the U S Highway Department attending to share ideas.
Reverend J. T. B. Anderson, pastor of the Jeffersonville Baptist Church for four years, tendered his resignation to be effective December 1. He will become pastor of the First Baptist Church at Vidalia and relocate there early next month. He leaves behind a grateful community praising his efforts in building the church and fostering local work, with many friends mourning his departure.
