At a Monday city council meeting the decision to submit a $60,000 sewer bond proposition to voters for a thirty year term at six percent interest was approved. If approved, four septic tanks will be built. engineers estimate total cost under $55,000. Mayor Jackson also pushed a new chicken law and noted the city’s solid finances with $10,000 open accounts and $15,000 in taxes due.
The Vidalia council accepted the engineers map noting the loose leaf register and block by block listings will ease real estate transfers and property tax collection. New traffic rules require east side parking at 45 degrees. West side streets remain wide with standard rules. Toombs County leads state outside cities in automobile registrations with another carload sold last week.
Kiwanis Club hosts its first ladies night since charter presentation. Guests include members, wives, and lady friends. Attendance exceeds ninety as the club celebrated with social time and refreshments.
The Twentieth Century Woman's Club led a citywide Clean-up Week with zone chairs and Scout troops assisting. Sanitation crews report a record haul, praising cooperation while urging merchants to burn trash and avoid street debris until trash cans arrive.
Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Phillips of near Covena bought a 20 acre tract on the Swainsboro road from Mrs. Sophia Holmes. They plan to build and move to Vidalia soon seeking access to a good school for their children.
The Kiwanis gathering drew praise for decoration music and a strong menu with prizes awarded to Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. DeLoach for ladies attendance and to W. A. Jones with W. L. Downs for gentlemen prizes. Local speakers from the Woman's Club and the Trishmen anecdote sparked humor as the group prepared for a Toombs County Booster meeting with State Highway Engineers Neel and Parker and county commissioners as guests.
Sunday events across Vidalia and Brewton Parker Institute highlighted the 75 Million Campaign. Dr. Scarboro of Southwestern Theological Seminary urged Baptists to honor pledges while detailing mission expansion, new orphanages, hospitals, and aid for retired preachers. Other church leaders joined the rally.
Rev. W M Blitch pastor B P Jackson campaign director and E T McBride head minute men spoke with 21 of 28 district preachers and about 80 laymen. The Southern Methodist church aims to raise 33 million with McRae district quota about 150000 and more than that 210000 for McRae endowment and improvements. A Vidalia rally will feature Judge Max L McRae and A W Pullen. Lyons Mt Vernon Uvalda Center Altamaha charges form one district with a district rally and picnic lunch on Tuesday the 19th.

Revival services began Sunday morning and will run through the week and beyond. Rev. J. T. B. Anderson preaches stirring gospel sermons and the meeting has generated great interest. Several new members have joined the church through the revival activity.
