The Panhandle Conference of the Texas District of the Missouri Synod met September 9 to 15 at St Paul Lutheran Church led by pastor Rev. J A Birnbaum. About twenty pastors and missionaries attended. Rev. Fr Heckmann of Abilene was elected chairman. Services featured preaching by Rev A Arndt Cisco and Rev P Klenk Olney. Lectures included “Concerning the Worship of the Saints” and “Socialism” with Rev C M Beyer of Wichita Falls. The gathering urged mission support and featured choirs and visiting ministers.

The State Highway Department has taken over maintenance of State Highway No. 5 and No. 28 in the county under department supervision.
