County Fair prizes total 7600 set for October dates
The Wilbarger County Fair will award seven thousand six hundred dollars in prizes October 1 through 4 for cattle horses hogs sheep poultry fine arts culinary textiles and boys and girls clubs. Entries must be in place by the start time and animals may not vie for multiple premiums except in specific sweepstakes.

Jury For Week Dismissed In District Court
The weekly panel was dismissed Tuesday afternoon. Henry Miller and Virgil Hunter faced theft charges. Miller’s trial ended with a hung jury and Hunter received a suspended five year sentence. Miller’s case will be resumed next week as the court continues with non jury matters and divorce suits.

Dandy and McKinney report the sale of more than 1,000 acres in leases to out-of-town parties this week. Prices ranged from 10 to 35 dollars per acre. Mrs. Lyon of Jackson Springs received a letter from David Lively of Crowell, describing the death of her son Dewey Lyon who fell at Thiacourt, France, on September 12 after going over the top.
