Former Wilbarger Urges Growing of Improved Cotton
Rev J C Clements of Plymouth argues Wilbarger county farmers lose 2 1 2 to 4 cents a pound by growing short staple cotton. He cites a bale sold for 44 30 and claims better grades could fetch 47 00 in Wellington. He notes Collingsworth county farmers earned up to 9 cents recently. Clement cites M H Wolfe of Dallas and other factors, and notes he farms nearly 400 acres. He advocates longer staple cotton and says Vernon buyers pay top prices. He grows Mebane and expects at least half a bale per acre around Oklaunion.
