F B Gilchrist of Route 2 Vernon visited the gin Wednesday night with a bale of cotton. He found 35 to 40 loads ahead and sold his bale for 4.12 cents per pound, about $185. He expects to produce twenty bales or more on 35 acres, aided by a good feed crop, noting Wilbarger county's decent season.

The Fargo gin capacity has been limited for about a week due to an insufficient water supply. Hubert Hendrix of Fargo says the gin has two wells but cannot obtain enough water for steam. Consequently many Fargo cotton raisers have to ship their cotton into Vernon for processing.

Vernon resident Mr Micola sold a bale of Mebane cotton for 450 dollars after arriving midweek and awaiting ginning. He estimates 15 bales picked and about 20 more in a SO acre field, projecting yields at over half a mile per acre and favorable grain, with little feed roughness for stock.
