The piece contrasts prior private parental duty with modern push for public schooling, noting a Dallas News contributor’s views on taxation and free education. It then shifts to local notes with community events and personal news from Tolbert and surrounding areas.
A graduation address at the Baptist church by Hen I CL Willet drew a large crowd. Crowell and Vernon visitors attended Sunday services and school programs, including a Friday graduation night and a Thursday class event. By special correspondents a severe rain and wind storm visited the community Friday night. Most crops replanted for those spared, while others were destroyed by sandstorms earlier in the week.
