Mrs. Houssels Laid to Rest in Vernon Service
Mineral services were held today for Mrs. Robert Houssels of Vernon who died Monday in Long Beach. A private funeral at the Houssels home preceded church rites led by Rev. Barnes and Rev. Hath of the local Methodist church. Interment was beside her husband, with pallbearers named from Vernon and nearby towns. The bereaved family included sons Bismark and Robert and daughter Mrs. Archer, with most relatives present.

American Legion Circus Draws Large Vernon Crowds
Vernon residents packed the Batley Brothers show presented under American Legion sponsorship all week. The wild west program impressed officials with its square dealings, bronzed horses and steady riding. Wrestlers from Bailey Livethers impressed by avoiding being thrown so far, while local riders had similar outcomes. The circus began offering cow camp dinners from a chick Wagon to enhance the western ambiance.
