MKenna Well Proves To Be Strong Gasser
Wilbarger pool activity quiet aside, J B McKenny brought in a strong gas well in the No 1-B Waggoner hole section 31 west half black 14 HR T. The weld traps salt water at 1225 feet and yields about 5 million cubic feet of gas from 1105 to 1225 feet and is planned to go deeper. Nearby oil shows at the abandoned Site of Corporation’s hole, section 77 block St, drew interest though the well was junked at 2260 feet after a rotary drilled oil and gas show. Gas percolates through water in the casing despite 1000 feet of mud. Major companies have not yet offered to take the well. Locals, six miles south of town, watch as Bridwell Heydrick and Stephens drill other sands and as Nout Dill targets 2500 feet. The region near Vernon sees spudding on two outskirts and multiple wells in prospect along the high ridge from South Vernon pool to East View cemetery. Deep drilling continues at several other leases with measurements around 1105 to 2800 feet and ongoing efforts to manage water sands and hard rock sections.
