Orphans of the Storm Recreates Bastille Storm Scene
The film Orphans of the Storm directed by D. W. Griffith recreates the storming of the Bastille with vivid detail, portraying the 14 July revolt as the turning point of the French Revolution. The sequence showcases a vast mob pressuring the fortress, while defenders and cannon fire frame a pivotal moment in history. Acknowledging the broader narrative, the article notes the Bastille episode as central to the film’s revolution theme and to Griffith’s cinematic achievement. Also includes a local loan ad from Vernon National Farm Loan Association.
