American Wheat Saved Allies During World War I Debate
Ralph Merritt told the Association Advertising Clubs of the World in San Francisco that American saving and shipments backed Allied needs. He cited Hoover’s January cable announcing surplus wheat from 1917 would be sent between January and September, ending debate over whether the war was lost. He noted large wheat landings and the role of voluntary American savings in supplying Allied needs.

Ten Peaches In Cluster From West Paradise Street
A branch with ten peaches, seven inches long, was brought to The Record office. The fruit, uniform size and rich peach color, tastes excellent. The variety is unknown, traced to a tree gifted years ago by Robert Houssels. A Wichita Falls visitor sampled the peaches and a buyer sought Verdon fruit by long distance call. Also noted are a July 20 birth in Kingola and a July 19 birth to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thompson, plus a Ford racer body for sale at Citizens' Garage.
