F Combs 28 of Chillicothe died Sunday afternoon from peritonitis after an appendicitis operation here. Body taken to Chillicothe for funeral services Sunday at 8 p m. Burial in Chillicothe cemetery. He is survived by his parents and several brothers and sisters, the youngest.

The last stretch of paving on the Vernon to Tolbert highway, west of the Pease River, was finished Thursday afternoon at 2. The 3.62 mile segment starts 4.5 miles west of the Pease River bridge and extends 1.5 miles east of Tolbert, opening to traffic around August 10. Weather and material delays slowed work started April 17. The completion adds Wilbarger county to 12.6 miles of paved Colorado Gulf Highway, with remaining eastern portions funded and contracting pending.
