Fires consume two frame buildings in Ver nem area
Two fires damaged property around 1500 dollars in Ver nem Saturday. A frame cottage owned by Robert Crase on South Bowie Street burned at about 2 80 am from an unknown origin, nearly level with insurance. Later that morning a servant’s house at the Ft Condon residence, one mile west of Town, burned despite chemical engine response. Local residents and club members rushed to the scenes to assess protection and proximity to the Gab house.

Pioneer Wilbarger Five Convictions Resident Dead
A Pioneer Wilbarger County resident and prominent farmer, Mr. Lockett, died Sunday night at his home near Vernon after months of ill health. Born August 22, 1845 in Tennessee, he moved with his family to Texas, helped establish Lockett Baptist Church, and is survived by his widow and five children. Funeral services were conducted at the family residence with burial in East View Cemetery.
