W N Martin Heads Laymen Council At Baptist Church
W N Martin was elected president of the laymen council at the Baptist church meeting at 8:00 p m. Tuesday. A V Roberts became vice president and J A Jordan secretary treasurer. Seventy five men attended to form the organization which plans to address church problems and send speakers to rural churches while visiting others to foster cooperation among congregations. The Goetz orchestra provided music and Mrs Nolan sang two solos. Refreshments were served after the service.

Chillicothe Mayor Near Death From Pneumonia
Handel, longtime Chillicothe mayor and Wilbarger County official, lies at the point of death at his home in Chillicothe from pneumonia. A veteran early settler, he moved to the county in 1882 and still owns his Farmers Valley farm. His brother Louis Rantel is seriously ill with influenza but recovering.
