Rig on Ground for New Well Near Stephens No 1
A Star drilling rig has been moved to the South Vernon Oil Company Stephens lease and will rig up to drill 800 yards south of Stephens No 1, which is pumping about 85 barrels per day. A derrick is being erected 800 yards northwest of Stephens No 1, after which a Standard rig will spud in to drill a deep sand. The company plans rapid well bring ins and additional storage, with two shallow sands already proven and the same sands believed to be productive at the new site.

Negro fined for homicide by county judge Wartick
Will Wright, a Black man, was fined 250 dollars and sentenced to 10 days in jail after pleading guilty to negligent homicide. He admitted firing a pistol that killed Eugene Justis, another Black man, at a Negro house near the mill. Wright claimed the gun went off accidentally and said he pointed it at Justis before it fired. Justis died at the scene. no witnesses were present to the shooting. Wright had been jailed since the incident.

Two Injured in Accident Near East View Sunday
Rev Thomas E. B Milholland and Mrs Milholland suffered painful injuries when their car was struck from behind by a Ford roadster east of the cemetery Sunday afternoon.
