Parnell bill seeks free Red River bridge across state line
Senator J D Parnell introduces two bills to span Red River with free bridges linking Texas and Oklahoma. The measures allow Wichita and Harmon counties to contract with Oklahoma authorities for a Gardlie bridge on Wichita county north line, using 25 percent local funds and highway authority bonds. Efforts aim to avoid tolls, keeping the Lee Highway eligible for federal aid. Local Frederick leaders host a February 2 bridge meeting to discuss the toll issue.
