Man Shot in Off Field Town In Serious Condition

George Con, a teamster in the South Vernon oil fields, was shot Sunday night near a house occupied by B. F. Arp in South Vernon. Arp surrendered to sheriff's officers and was released on bond. Con was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. The bullet entered the left side near the heart and exited. Con, with two companions, went to inquire about rooms when the shooting occurred. Initial hopes of recovery faded, then revived. One account says Arp shot through a window at the men, mistaking them for burglars.
