Bond Election for District 49 Set for September
County Judge T Warlick orders a bond election for the 49th consolidated common school district of Wilbarger county including the former Brown and Union districts. The September 6 vote seeks 4500 to build a three room frame school about one mile south of the Brown school house. Voters favored consolidation 100 percent previously and are expected to back the bond as well.

District 47 school bonds ordered issued
County judge T Warlick has sent $6,000 in bonds to the Attorney General for approval to build a frame school in Red River and Pleasant Valley district No 47. Paving West of Vernon Opened for Traffic
The paving along the Colorado Gulf Highway west of Vernon was completed July 10 and opened to traffic last week. About sixteen miles of highway paving in Wilbarger County now runs from Okieion to Tolbert, with the new section starting 100 feet west of the Pease River bridge and continuing 3,462 miles. A small Wilbarger Street paving project, funded with federal aid, is being closed and finished this week.

Frisco Spur Extensions Planned Near Cotton Gin
Frisco railroad plans two extensions totaling about 2000 feet along the north side of the Partners Cooperative gin and the south side of the Interstate Compress, to serve members of the Texas Farm Stream Cotton Association. County Vault Construction Planned by County Commissioners
The county will begin work on a new fireproof vault at Wilbarger and Cimber streets, recently purchased for court use. Ground work starts immediately with contractor K P Jones and completion aimed for October 1. Minor improvements bring total costs to about 4,500, to protect records and avoid fire risk. The County Clerk’s office will move to the new building to house the vault unit.

Mr and Mrs W Pouncey have returned from six months in Yooukur county and tour of southern towns. Mr Pouncey reports all crops burned in Yoookum county and 160 acres were destroyed by drought and hot winds in seven days. Mrs Jouncey visiting relatives in Electra and both plan to return to Wilbarger.
Haywood Bennett Returns Home After Global Wanderings
Haywood Bennett, son of Mr and Mrs J Bennett, is home recovering from war wounds after years of wandering across the United States and many countries. A letter from Claremore Oklahoma brought the news, and his family left for Oklahoma. Bennett served in the Canadian forces in France during World War I and later in the Mexican army, Coast Guard artillery, and military police before pursuing life as a soldier of fortune. He has visited nearly all the nations in four years and spent time in the Orient training recruits for the Chinese army.

County Accepts Material Offer On Road Project
