President Harding Dies in San Francisco Hotel
President Warren G. Harding died suddenly in a San Francisco hotel room at 7:30 p.m. Western time. He had been ill for a week and collapsed while Mrs. Harding read to him. Doctors not present at the death scene attributed the stroke to apoplexy. Vice President Calvin Coolidge was informed and would assume the presidency. Harding, born November 2, 1865 in Ohio, had just returned from a voyage to the territories and possessions.

Vernon welcomes Technological Tar meeting board Monday
Hundreds of citizens with brass band will meet the Technological Tar board in Vernon Monday afternoon. The group arrives from the West and will be met at Quanah by about 200 Vernon club members led by chamber of commerce officials and the Vernon Concert Band. They will tour the city, view public buildings and local beauty spots, and dine at Titleress country club as part of the program to promote Vernon for the college location. The dinner will present Vernon facts to aid board members in assessing the city and county. Board members include S. B. Cowell chairman W. B. Nabours secretary Dr. W. S. Sutton UT acting president Dr. W. B. Biswell A & M College president Dr. F. M. Bralley College of Industrial Arts president and S. M. N. Marrs State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Big Registration At Tourist Park Reported For July
Chairman Lon Byars of the tourist park committee reports 2667 people registered in July at the park with 646 automobiles. Most registrants arrived during daylight. many others came late and left without registering. Average daily use is about 125 persons. Registrants came from many states, led by Texas. The park, praised as among the best in the United States, now features more electric lights, a public telephone, and other conveniences.

Reservoir main break drains city water supply
A 10 inch water main from the city lake to the town reservoir burst on Wednesday, draining the system. Water from wells was pumped into the main reservoir after the break, which was under ground near the city limits, and the cause has not yet been determined.

Permanent Spring Boards Installed at City Lake
City officials led by Commissioner W. W. Pennett report extensive improvements at the city lake this week. A bath house for women is under construction on the shore while permanent spring boards and diving platforms go up. A concrete anchored board is rising at the northwest deep-water corner for swimmers. Another board is being rebuilt at the peninsula site, previously broken, now anchored on solid ground for women and children. Diving platforms are added for all bathers.
