The Woman's Missionary Society of the Northwest Texas Conference of the Methodist church gathers in Vernoi for a four day event starting tomorrow afternoon at 4 30. Paving Opens On Molorado to Gulf Highway Section
Paving near Vernon is now open to traffic with three miles newly completed, extending the paved road to roughly one fourth of a mile beyond O% lainion. On March 27 the contractor finished a five mile section and a luncheon was held for about 100 guests, including the county judge and commissioners. Work then moved to Tolbert area where over three miles more paving is underway, with about a half mile completed in the first stretch.

Charles Callaway Dies in Detroit Michigan
Charles Callaway a former Vernon resident died in Detroit Michigan where he had lived with a son. He previously left Vernon for Long Beach California to live with a daughter and later moved to Detroit. For twenty years he was janitor of the Waggoner National Bank and was a well known Black resident of the county. He did not know his exact age but was said to be grown during the Civil War era. He is survived by several children.
