Vernal Rodeo Packed With Thrills And Strong Horse Racing

The United Basin Rodeo in Vernal drew full parking lots across Thursday through Saturday. Guy Rife and Bryant Stringham led a smooth show with horse racing directed by Algin Weeks featuring forty entries from Uintah Basin and beyond. Bucking and roping events drew lively crowds while wrestling bouts showcased competitive matches and several knockouts.

Vernal Lions to Visit Provo for Home Coming Event

A large Vernal Lions Club delegation will travel to Provo on September 2 to attend the Provo Chamber of Commerce Home Coming celebration. The program features the BYU versus Montana State football game, Safety Convention, Safety First contests, and a Chamber banquet in honor of the guests, with a tour of the Steel Plant. Road survey crews map Vernal to Twelve-Mile Bridge route

State road survey under Douglas Larsen completes three week line work for Twists Canyon and a new Vernal to hilltop road. Route shifts west to Ed Hoeft farm then diagonals toward High Line canal, joining the current road near Woolley property. Vernal Uintah Basin Rodeo praised for generous leadership

Citizens at Imperial hall honored Guy T Rife for donating bucking horses and efforts and the Uintah Basin Rodeo earned success through his generosity and that of the entire committee. The UH 5S band and concessions workers also donated time and funds with community backing boosting the event.

Lengthy Fall Court Term Closes After Prolonged Trials

Uintah County Schools Set to Open Monday September 25

Uintah county district schools will begin the new term next Monday. Enrollment is expected to meet or exceed last year. Vernal City Obtains Partial Bond Loan for Waterworks

In 1931 Vernal City floated a 50000 bond issue to fund a waterworks replacement program. Six thousand dollars funded fall work while a bond sale struggled. In spring 1932 a 310000 call was made for pine, the bonding company could not handle more sales, and the balance remained. An RFGO loan application in August 1932 reduced the loan to 32000 after 6000 in work was completed.

Water storage push to curb Ashley Creek shortages

An Ashe ly Valley drought response in 1919 spurred a hydrographic survey of Ashley Creek water resources. Farmers, engineers, and lawyers organized a reservoir project with 3500 acre feet capacity and government aid talks under way to fund headwater storage and longer irrigation windows. Local figures like Mayor R C Cooper push for a city replacement program and extended piping to improve water delivery.

Horse Show at Uintah Basin Rodeo Crowns Fine Animals

The Uintah Basin Rodeo linked horse show drew many fine animals. Winners in each class were led on Friday by Remount judging under Captain E Wraldron of the US Remount Service at Fort Douglas. First places included Hugh W Colton in several classes with multiple runners up and thirds. summer entries by Alvin Weeks, Vern Allred, Mont Caldwell, Lee Bennion, and others also won or placed in the suckling and remount divisions.
