Moffat tunnel contract awarded to Hitchcock and Tinkler

Denver Sept 18 The Moffat tunnel commission awarded the contract for the 606 mile bore through the Continental divide west of Denver to Hitchcock and Tinkler of Ban Tranctaco and New York for 5 260 000 in a fixed fee deal The Balt Lake and Denver Railroad plans to begin limited construction this year to secure necessary certificates of convenience and to connect with the Utah Colorado line when the Utah line is built, estimated at 20 million dollars and 300 miles long.

City Council Hikes Vernal Light Contract Rates

The Vernal Light Co contract expired and council members Thon W. O Donnell William H Siddoway and Jierbert Tyzack urged a new rate of 110 per month up from 69 cents. Will Incorporate Local Farm Bureau Units In Utah

I M Atwood, organization manager for the Utah state farm bureau and state legislator from Utah County, visited Monday to aid in organizing local farm bureaus. He will inspect Uintah County locals to ensure books and accounts are proper and publish required notices. The locals will be incorporated as nonprofit bodies, with broader state organization planned through winter as Atwood, author of Utah cooperative marketing law, leads the effort.

A major fire in Berkeley California destroyed homes in the resident district on Tuesday. Miss Helen McAndrew, a junior at the university, was unharmed and notified her parents by telegram. Boxing Bouts Friday Draw a Large Crowd

A large crowd gathered at the Orpheus Hall on Friday for Amorloyy Legion boxing bouts. In the 120 pound bout Ralph Holfe defeated Gyan Wiis on a draw by Nof eroo Howard Johnson, Henry Workman beat Harold Huts piper, and the main six round match between Joma Hulloger and Win Gurr ended with Hulloger scoring a knockout in the final round. Forest Money Apportioned For School Purposes

Governor Maboy has been notified by BA Sherman acting chief for rester of the United States that Utahs portion of federal forest receipts for the year ending June 30 shows 26 percent of the total, totaling 7 463,400 acres within the national forests in Utah. The state gains on revenues from these forest areas less than one tenth an acre. Sherman reports that 474,791 dollars received by the Ashley forest are to be divided among Dag Rott Duchesny Summit and Uintah counties.
