Equity Finds Oil Showing in Ashley Structure near Jensen

Equity Oil Co reports a favorable showing of oil in the N. J. Meagher No. 1 well in the Ashley structure three miles west of Jensen. Depth 4152 feet. Equity owns half the well. Joe T. Juhan holds 1/4. Paul Stock 1/4. Drilling by Kerr-McGee began Aug 1 spudded Aug 13 with tests due in 7–10 days.

Vernal Man Victor Waite Named Baseball State Commissioner

Victor M. Waite of Vernal Utah automobile dealer was named by the National Baseball Congress to supervise Utah’s 1949 state baseball program. District tournaments run July 1 to July 7 with state champions advancing to the national tournament set August 19 to 31 at Wichita. The NCR lists commissioners across East Midwest South and West with Waite among Utah’s appointees.

Services Held for Vernal Man Killed in Rangely Shooting

Marion Warby 47 of Vernal died after an accidental gun discharge in Rangely last week. His son Maurice 20 suffered a finger loss while cleaning a 30-20 rifle. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Maeser LDS ward chapel. Warby born Oct 11 1900 in Beaver was a long time Vernal resident.

Vernal Youth Injured in Sunday Horse Accident

Jay Alexander 14 son of Mr and Mrs R G Alexander Vernal was seriously injured Sunday at 8 30 p m when a horse he rode stumbled and fell on his foot. He was rushed to Holy Cross hospital Salt Lake City to undergo an operation Tuesday, accompanied by his father.

Margaret Bartlett honored at Tridell funeral rites

Mrs. Margaret Watt Bartlett 87 died last Thursday in Provo hospital. Funeral held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Tridell LDS ward chapel with LeRoy Morrill presiding. She was born in Salt Lake City August 28, 1867 and lived much of life as a teacher in Montana and Utah. Surviving husband Tridell, a son George, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Tridell Woman Maude Morrill Wilson Dies at 61

Final rites were held for Maude Morrill Wilson 61 in Tridell after a Sunday death in a Salt Lake hospital from a lingering illness. She was born December 13, 1886 in Junction to Hyrum and Harriet Morrill and married John T. Wilson in the Manti LDS temple. Surviving are her husband and numerous Wilson relatives in Tridell and nearby areas, plus siblings Frank Ivan Ellis Morrill Alta Wilson Rhoda Hickenlooper.
