Naples Pioneer Passes to Beyond
John Evana longtime Ashley valley pioneer dies at 2 20 Friday afternoon September 2 after a fall in August and rapid decline. Born April 12 1847 in Cardiff England he came to America with his father and later settled in Naples Utah where he helped pioneer the country. Survived by wife Zinn Bascom whom he married June 25 1877 and ten children four of whom preceded him. twenty living grandchildren. Funeral held in Naples ward with Bishop Fuller Remington presiding. interment in Vernal cemetery.

Pioneer Captain Pardon Dodds Died Aged in Utah Valley
Captain Pardon Dodds a long time Ashley Valley pioneer died Sunday night after a life full of frontier work. He arrived in Ashley valley in 1873 driving the first wagon and built a trading post with Indians. Interment was at Vernal cemetery after simple home services. He is survived by his widow and two sons Pardon Jr and Joseph H both of Vernal.
