A movement seeks to form a company to purchase and fit twenty five acres at the SE corner of Grant Carpenter’s land in Vernal city for permanent fairgrounds. Urges urgency as prices may rise and urges securing fair grounds for Uintah County.
Deseret News reports surviving members of the Lot Smith company Utah cavalry are eligible for Grand Army of the Republic membership. A court of inquiry found Crismon and Hullinger were members, sworn in 1862 to protect government property, discharged 1862, paid as US soldiers, and neither bore arms against the United States.

Provo Utah September 2 The Uintah Reservation Indian baseball team is making a friendly tour against white teams and has bested all opponents so far except Spanish Fork. They beat Heber on Wednesday by 7 to 3 and edged Springville 10 to 7. They plan to play Provo at North Park and will face other county teams in the coming days.
