Refining Capacity Grows to Seventy Thousand Barrels
Utah refining capacity rises from 7 to about 60 000 barrels daily with current operations at around 70 percent. In 1910 there were three refined products kerosene lubricating oils and greases now over 200. Added pipeline investments push totals, with five Utah refineries employing about 1500 workers in 1950 and $20 million in supplies, while four oil fields in NW Colorado supply most crude for Utah. Interconnections allow idle shipments to all refineries via major pipelines, boosting possible capacity to 70 000 barrels daily. Demonstrations aim to attract and show varied techniques from sweater washing to calf dehorning as 4-H girls compete.
