Funeral Rites for Persis A Stewart Weld in Jensen
Funeral services were held in the Jensen ward chapel for Persis Ann Ainge Stewart 104 who died at her Jensen residence after a lingering illness. The service was directed by the Jensen Ward bishopric with prayers by Monroe Natch and floral arrangements led by Thelma Beacham. Survivors include one son Francis and many grandchildren great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Fast Driver Runs Off Road Heavily Damaging Car
A fast driving individual failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road into a bar pit, sliding 411 feet and overturning for another 120 feet. The auto was totally demolished and Mr Wardle suffered three broken ribs. He was hospitalized and released after appearing in a justice court. Trooper Mack Helm of the Highway Patrol led the investigation.

Funeral Set For Clement Eaton in Salt Lake City
Funeral rites for Clement Eaton age 53, formerly of Vernal, will be held Friday at noon in the Wilson Ward chapel in Salt Lake City. Eaton died Tuesday morning in a Salt Lake hospital from a heart ailment. He was born May 3, 1905 in Vernal. Survivors include his widow, a son and a daughter, two brothers and two sisters, with services coordinated by local kin.

Forest Fires Burn Five Acres On Cart Creek
Four fires have occurred in ten days reported Ashley National Forest supervisor Andrew McConkle. The major outbreak struck Gart Creek Monday with lightning, burning five acres on a steep timber hillside before control was established Tuesday. Forty men in two crews fought the flames and disrupted work on the Vernal Manila road as road crews aided in firefighting.

National Park Service Allocates Funds for Dinosaur National Monument
The National Park Service declares 808,400 dollars for Dinosaur National Monument in fiscal year 1059. Regional director Howard W Baker says the funds support road and trail improvements building construction employee housing and related developments under the Mission 66 ten year program begun in 1956.

Fertility Tests For Rams Bulls Set Next Week
The extension service will have veterinarian Dr James Bell in the Vernal area next week to test ram and bull fertility. A ram fertility demonstration will be at the Mease ranch east of the Marvin Chivers home in Davis testing 100 rams. Livestockmen may contact the county agent's office for testing of rams or bulls.

Fires End in Death as Lapoint Home Burns
A four room frame dwelling in Lapoint was destroyed by fire on Monday at 10 am. An elderly occupant died of an apparent heart attack after attempting to escape with clothing bundles. The home, owned by Earl Labrum, was pledged by his daughter and son in law, Mr and Mrs Robert Juglicg. Frederick C. Lortz, 74, died minutes after the fire started while helping the family. Vernal firefighters arrived too late to save the building. neighbors saved a refrigerator and a few pieces of furniture. Mrs Justice reported she left to wash and returned to find the stairwell bottom and washer area aflame. She notified the Vernal fire department and tried to douse flames with a garden hose.
